From an autobiographical statement on why I want to be a teacher:

I experienced many tremendous changes and hard experiences growing up in which I came to rely heavily on those around me. Each of those experiences have shaped and brought me to be the stronger person I am today. Most importantly to me, those experiences strengthened my desire to become a teacher so that I can help those students who are struggling make it through the hard times just as I have. I chose to specifically become an English teacher because literature creates a special bond within people. I believe that, through literature and this bond, struggling students can find way and find meaning in life to help them through their hard times. As an English teacher, it is my aspiration to instill this hope in students.
With my degree, I hope to work in either a school for students with family and/or behavioral problems or in a struggling, inter-city school. I want to help teach and influence these students in the ways I have been influenced by my teachers and helped by others around me. I believe that these students are not given the opportunities and faith that they deserve and that is essential in becoming successful. Unfortunately, I feel this is often because these types of teaching positions are used as a stepping stone for teachers to get into better jobs. I feel that as a passionate teacher I could help these students succeed in ways they never thought they could just by loving what I do and by doing everything I can to help by instilling the hope literature can give to humans. Because of my experiences with my friends in the past, these non-traditional students hold a special place in my heart. In my summers off, I would love to work in an educational outreach program to help share my love for learning to others as well. I feel that this is another important area that could benefit from my help and passion being contributed.

Have I introduced Fluff?

Well we have had our second kitty for almost a year. But this is Fluff aka Fluffabutt Fluffaloes or her proper name Princess Yeti because we adopted her from a mansion where she has great dane brothers.

And she can play fetch.
